twice back in 2011 and
last year, I had the opportunity yesterday to meet someone else from online. You see, a lot of the online friends that I have come from this Internet board that I used to go to called the WALL-E Forum. I joined back in 2009 several months after searching the Internet for WALL-E related things when I noticed a thread that had to do with science from the film. Intrigued, I searched through the various topics and discussions over the next several months until I decided to join myself and become a contributor. Since then, I've seen amazing art (mostly by
), joined in an ever expanding roleplay universe, had a wonderful girlfriend, and met some amazing, talented, extraordinary people.
Unfortunately, because of the decline of activity our boss, WALL-E Dragon, let the forum go for good earlier this year. One of our moderators has a backup that's still in the works. Both of the people that I mentioned at the very beginning of this journal were from the WALL-E Forum, and so is the one that I met last night. The person that I met last night was known on the forum as blondatheart2805, but I'm going to be mentioning her by her real name, Kirsten.
When me and Kirsten first met each other on the forum, we talked, here and there, but we never really established some kind of long lasting friendship. About two years ago, we started texting each other, more often then I text on average. We became friends pretty quickly and continue to talk about life and, at times, spew random nonsense at each other. After about a year of planning, we finally met each other last night.
Meeting her was, in a word, strange. Someone I've known only though text (save for a voice chat about 3 years ago) was in my backyard, standing right in front of me. Her voice sounded different that I expected, but it was an amazing experience overall. We shook hands, I invited her inside and showed her around, introduced her to my dad, youngest brother, and out cats. As I was showing her my room, I gave her a $20 Steam Gift Card as a late birthday present (her birthday was on the 11th) and we started to play some Call of Duty. As we were setting up the match, my mom and other brother came home and were introduced to Kirsten. We went on the zipline we have in our backyard, engaged in a lightsaber battle, and just talked about life and whatnot.
Overall, it was a fun night and despite her 1 hour visit, it was well worth it. She was amazing, funny, beautiful, and overall, a good friend.
